Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii has topped the Japanese software chart for another week. The latest figures from Media Create show that Mario’s racing debut on the Wii sold 151 918 copies for the week ending the 27th of April, bringing the title’s life-to-date sales to just shy of 1 million.
Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G stays in second with 92 656 copies, bringing its life-to-date sales to 1.8 million. Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3 debuts in third with 77 267 copies while Namco Bandai’s Taiko Drum Master DS: Seven Island Adventure is new on the chart at number 4 with 55 950 copies.
Banpresto’s Summon Night for the Nintendo DS debuts at number 5 with 37 856 copies while Nintendo’s Wii Fit drops two places to number 6 with 36 851 copies. Life-to-date sales for Wii Fit now stand just short of 2 million.
Nintendo’s We’re Fossil Diggers for the DS drops four places to number 7 with 22 319 copies while Pokémon Ranger: Batonnage for the DS drops two places to number 8 with 17 879 copies.
Nintendo’s Beautiful Letter Training for the DS moves down two spots to number 9 with 17 879 copies and Koei’s Musou Orochi: The Evil King Returns settles in tenth with 14 897 copies, down from last week’s number 5.
With three new entries into the Top 10 this week, let’s take a look at what titles dropped out of the spotlight. Hudson’s Deca Sporta for the Wii finished at number 13 (last week number 9) while Nintendo’s Wii Sports and Super Smash Bros. Brawl fell to numbers 14 and 15 respectively (last week’s numbers 10 and 9).
Two Xbox 360 titles made an appearance in the Top 30 this week. Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 featured at number 11 and THQ’s Frontlines: Fuel of War at number 26. Capcom’s Phoenix Wright 4 debuted at number 27 in its first week.
