Saving Metal Gear Solid (PS1) files on my PS3

When I downloaded the game the program asked me to create a save file for the PS2/PSP games, which I did & labeled it "Memory 1"
Now, my issue is, tonight when I called up Mei Ling after beating the first boss to save...it tells me theres no memory card and I was forced to just straight up quit.
