I received this e-mail a few days ago: Larry, Vids:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8KLhLYybbc I thought you might like to see what we did for our Halloween shotgun match: Stage 1 Monster Hunter International SETUP: Shooter will begin at the low ready in Box 1. His shotgun will be fully lo...
So, the question is, how many of you would be down for a leather-bound, fancy, signed edition of Monster Hunter International? The downside is that you pay for quality, and it would run about $50. No, you don’t get to pick what kind of monster the leather is made out of. (but if anyone asks,...
I’d only met John once before at a Con, but we’d corresponded via e-mail. He’s won awards for his short fiction, and the man really knows and loves the craft of writing. I did a signing with John on Saturday, and was able to score a copy of his book a couple of days early. I sat down Saturday night, e...
Apparently the hot sellers right now are books that have Dragon or Princess in the title, which is why I’m proud to announce the upcoming Monster Hunter Princess Dragon Princess Force. Then somebody shoplifted one of John’s books, and a bunch of my friends who I haven’t seen in forever...
The first 7 chapters were posted for free. If you purchased the e-book, you could get the first 14 chapters. If you’ve already purchased, you can now view up to chapter 21. The last 7 should be available next month when the paper books start to ship. http://www.webscription.net/p-1024-monste...
I spoke with Brandon Sanderson after his podcast. He has finished Monster Hunter International, and despite it being nowhere near his normal genre, he really liked it. To have somebody who’s written a giant pile of bestsellers, and who is near the top of the game, actually like your book is a...
I went onto Amazon to see how the preorders for the Baen edition of Monster Hunter International were doing (21,000 something on the bestseller list this morning, which ain’t bad considering I’ve still got 100 days before it comes out) and I stuck my name into the search engine.
I’m still a long way from having the Baen version of MHI released. When it first went up for preorder on Amazon, a bunch of you ordered copies, and we shot way way way up the charts for a few days. It has tapered off now. And now we wait… and wait… and wait… Man that sucks. Right now we’re floating in so...
Note to people who actually read books, the above is satire. No. Not the little guys with the goat legs… Satire. There is actually no Christmas novel in the works. Do not let the strangeness you just read dissuade you from purchasing my actual (not sucky) novel, Monster Hunter International,...
That was the quote that kicked off MHI. It actually has nothing at all to do with the story, but it was that quote that gave me the general vibe I needed to put together several ideas that I had into one coherant plotline, that I eventually turned into Monster Hunter International.
Several years ago I sat down to write a novel that was a conglomeration of B-Movie stereotypes but tackled from the perspective tactical realism. I’m a B-Movie nerd, but I’m also a professional firearms and self defense instructor. Yeah, it does sound kind of weird. Picture a monster movi...
