Kotaku has found an interesting court filing between litigants NCSoft and Tabula Rasa creator Richard Garriott. Garriott is suing his former bosses for 'fraud'. The suit was filed in Texas and you can grab the link after the jump. ...
Unfortunately, it just never snagged the interest of my fellow MMO geeks, and is set to die a very sudden death in the next few weeks. A guy named Shane found these - unopened, brand new copies of Tabula Rasa - thrown into a [...] ...
Filed under: Sci-fi, Culture, MMO industry, Opinion, Tabula Rasa, Free-to-play Despite the title of this Kotaku post, I still refuse to call Tabula Rasa a bad game. Sure it's certainly not an encouraging sign to see dozens of sealed TR boxes filling a dumpster behind an EB Games in Canada,...
Back to rearranging the deck-chairs on the Titanic then, and more poking about what remains of Tabula Rasa. Right from the word go, one of the big features of the game was its Control Points. I've talked a bit about those back in April 2008, in my guise of free-faced newbie, and on paper, they se...
Soon-to-be closed MMO Tabula Rasa is getting some major toys in the next update, finally allowing players to own and operate one of the fabled PAU mechs! Take a look at the entire brigade after the jump.

Filed under: Sci-fi, Screenshots, Culture, Events, in-game, Tabula Rasa Over the next 2 months, we here at Massively plan to honor Tabula Rasa through a series of articles. The news of the game's closing affects all MMO gamers, even if they never actually played Tabula Rasa itself. So in th...
Character Cloning System" Unlike EverQuest 2 however, (who pulled the whole tree thing anyway, retro-fitting it with more usual 'Choose at L1' stuff, a year or two in), Tabula Rasa also allows you to effectively take character saves, using the Cloning system.
Filed under: Sci-fi, Culture, Events, in-game, Forums, Tabula Rasa With the news of Tabula Rasa's closing, one might wonder what will become of the game's largest and most popular unofficial forums. As was announced this past weekend, the PlanetTR forums will be changing formats after...

Several times I've wanted to just sit myself down and write an in-depth article explaining the original crafting system in Tabula Rasa (before it was announced to close), but it's just one of those things where the explanation would not ...
Then you needed skills to be able to do the crafting. These came from the same pool and points that you also needed for actual combat skills. Another bad move, effectively forcing everyone to make a Crafting Alt as soon as they hit the first Clone point, or face spending valuable survival skil...

I finally found a copy at Best Buy, but even there, they had a huge display set up for Lich King, but no display or massive shelf space for the EQ2 expansion, and it was just released as well. So, apparently the market has spoken. Even if your not a gamer, the public recognizes WoW as the winner of t...
It’s been a long week and a half for me. My wife had surgery on the 26th (day before Thanksgiving, yay!), and it’s been a slow recovery process. We’ve had fits and starts, and a bunch of bumps along the way. Just keeping her happy, me sane, and Massively rolling during a week of seemingly non-stop...
Following the recent news announcing the closure Tabula Rasa we had to get the old TabulaCast team together In this Show John and Matt are joined by Shawn the founder of TabulaCast and Tia (Avatea) NCSoft Europe’s Community Co-ordinator for Tabula Rasa
This illustrates quite well that the persistent worlds that many consider MMOs to be can also be viewed as a bit transient. While an offline game is available to a player as long as that person has it stored on some accessible media and the equipment to run it, the online games are effectively...
Even now Mythic is urging people to move characters to more populated servers so they can keep the RvR balance in check. They have yet to mention server closings, but that is only a matter of time. With Tabula Rasa already closing it’s doors and Age of Conan not fairing much better, I wonder how...

As Tabula Rasa counts its final days, the developers at NCsoft are still busy pushing the final Deployment 15 patch to PTS, which introduces the FPS camera mode (finally!) and takes players back to Earth! Complete patch notes, after the cut.
I'm not quite sure why I've just gone and subbed up for what remains of Tabula Rasa. A number of reasons, I suppose. The game is effectively over; and will be gone for good at the end of February '09; leaving about three months of play left. After that, it won't be possible to play it at all.
TABULA RASA: As predicted by many, gamebunny included, TABULA RASA has been canned. The news almost slipped by last week, creating more of a damp thump than an explosion on the MMO news front. NCsoft have stated that TR will close on ...

For a game like Tabula Rasa, with its monthly deployments, there's at least some logic in this. There's an advantage getting acquainted with tweaks before they go live. For a game like Age of Conan, with its current bi-weekly patch ...
It's interesting that something as valuable to a rewarding MMO experience as crafting is so routinely put on the back-burner. Age of Conan and Tabula Rasa are both glaring examples of recent releases whose crafting systems are either ...
